Nature and landscape are points of departure for Elin Neumann's paintings, but instead of creating a perceived landscape on the canvas, she tries to recreate or rather express its essence. By essence, that is not to say any particular landscape or nature´s specific character, but mainly the formal forms of expression and challenges landscapes and nature provide. Her choice of color, her technic and use of earth colors applied in several thin, translucent layers gives her paintings a characteristical raw but, simultaneously, esthetic appearance.
